a sparkling gif of a unicorn, looking to the right To me, unicorns are creatures that bring hope, joy, and wonder when we most need it. They remind us there is beauty and magic to be found everywhere, even in the smallest things.

They are part of the Fair Folk, of the holden or helpful/blessing folk. Unicorns are healers, and their horn can purify water and other substances, clearing them of poisons. They invite us to frolic with them, to embrace our own authentic self and our inner child. But, that horn is not for show. They are courageous and can be fierce when defending their homes or the ones they call theirs. They are also symbols of freedom, unable to be caught or brought down.

Unicorns are often tied to “purity” bringing to mind the tapestry of the virgin and the unicorn. However, fuck purity culture, we don’t need to be virgins to call upon the unicorn. Purity in their case means pure of heart, in the sense that you are honest, above all, with yourself. That you see and live your own truth, even in the tiniest ways. It takes courage to be authentic, and the unicorns see and support us in exploring and expressing our own selves.

A white unicorn facing to the rightIn working with unicorns and their magic I have found so much love and magic. Even in this short time they have fit in seamlessly into my practice of hopepunk and authenticity. They are kind, they are uplifting, and they show me the wondrous and beautiful things still in this world
